Benelux booking pushes up Turkish import scrap

London—Import prices for ferrous scrap into Turkey jumped Tuesday on the news of a fresh deepsea booking of Benelux origin. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $266/mt CFR Tuesday, up $4.50 from Monday. One Benelux recycler sold a cargo to a Marmara mill in a deal done November 26, consisting of 25,000 mt of HMS 1/2 (75:25), 5,000 mt shred and 5,000 mt HMS1/P&S at $262.50/mt average for first-half January shipment, which market players have put at above $265/mt CFR equivalent for the benchmark price.
