The spread between the prices of CIS steel billet and Turkish imports of ferrous scrap narrowed to its smallest level in more than two years on the back of the latter climbing over the last few weeks, S&P Global Platts data show. With Black Sea billet priced at $430/mt FOB and Turkish imported heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) standing at $327.50/ mt, the spread was hovering just above the $100/mt mark for the first time since January 2017, according to the data.
