Iranian iron ore miner starts up new steel plant

Iranian iron ore miner Golgohar Mining & Industrial Co. has started trial production at its new steelmaking plant which will be formally inaugurated soon, S&P Global Platts has learned from a company statement. The new plant's capacity is 1 million mt/ year for the $230 million investment, called Jahan Foulad Sirjan. The company recently started production at its Kousar direct reduction mega module, which will supply the needed DRI for the Jahan Foulad longs maker, according to knowledgeable sources in the industry.
