Black Sea pig iron prices rebound on US sales, fresh offers up

London—Black Sea pig iron market has rebounded in the last two weeks owing to new sales to the US following earlier exports to China, sources said. On Friday, S&P Global Platts assessed its weekly price at $293.50/mt FOB Black Sea, up $9.50 on the week. After weeks of sitting on the fence or bidding low at $260-$265/mt CIF New Orleans, US buyers finally had to fork up and pay $308-$312/mt CIF Nola for November- December shipments, booked mostly during the week ending October 25, a trader said. Some Russian cargoes were reported to have sold even at $315/mt CIF Nola.
