Libya's NOC Refuses Ransom to Reopen El-Sharara

Libya's National Oil Corp. (NOC) is insisting no ransom payment be made to a renegade militia that has shut down the 315,000 barrel per day El-Sharara oil field to discourage such action in the future. NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanalla has written to Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Serraj that the state oil firm "would not restart production or lift force majeure on crude oil exports at Zawiya if ransom payments were made by the Ministry of Finance," NOC said in a statement Friday.
