Russian Oil Output Hits Post-Soviet Record

Russia has hit a new post-Soviet record for oil production in recent weeks and is now pumping more than it did in October 2016, the baseline for cuts agreed under the Opec/non-Opec supply curb deal. The increase comes just before the meeting in Algiers of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), which monitors the performance of the Opec-led supply deal, on Sep. 23 where participants will discuss the state of oil markets and the future of the agreement, which is due to expire at year’s end.
