The new US sanctions levied this week against Petroleos de Venezuela(PDVSA),targeting flows of around 500,000 barrels per day of Venezuelan crude to the US and blocking the assets of its US refining subsidiary Citgo,could create opportunities for trading firms that have historically acted as intermediaries between PDVSA and end-users(OD Jan.30’19).
