US Slams Russian Gas Pipe Projects

US Energy Secretary Rick Perry was in Central Europe last week, where he hit out at two new gas export pipe- lines that Russia is building. “Russia is using energy sources as a weapon, and for this reason reliev- ing dependence on Russian gas is also a security issue,” Perry told govern- ment leaders in Hungary, adding that multiple energy sources will protect the region from being “held ransom.”
