Gazprom May Revise Dividend Policy

Russia’s state-controlled gas giant Gazprom may revise its dividend policy next year, Alexander Ivannikov, head of the company’s fi- nancial department, said last week. Gazprom is under pressure to fall in line with a government drive to get state-controlled companies to share half of their profits calculated under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). But the company has managed in recent years to secure exemptions from the state dividend policy, citing the need to invest heavily in strategic projects, including major export pipelines Power of Siberia, Nord Stream 2 and Turk Stream.
