BATTERY MATERIALS CONF: EV penetration in China to reach 7% by 2020; government policies shaping the market

A series of government policies will aid the rapid acceleration of electric vehicle (EV) sales in China - with market penetration projected to reach 7% among all types of vehicles in the country by 2020, according to Jia Hongtao, director of Beijing Electric Vehicle Co Ltd.EVs in China are expected to number around 2 million by 2020, with more optimistic forecasts placing that figure at closer to 3 million, Jia told attendees of the inaugural Industrial Minerals and Metal Bulletin Battery Materials Conference in Shanghai on April 18-19.
