Chinese officials are in the process of approving the country's first non-animal testing method for cosmetics ingredients, according to animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).The move, said to be in response to continued pressure from PETA on China to introduce non-animal tests, is expected to see the 3T3 Neutral Red Uptake Phototoxicity Assay test roll out in the country by summer. The test is said to analyse chemicals for their potential toxicity when they come into contact withsunlight, and is already used in the US and Europe.
