Limited buying interest, availability keeps markets slow

Global potash markets were again largely unchanged this week as producer availability remained limited and buying interest was minimal in some key regions. In Southeast Asia, weak palm oil prices continue to dampen MOP demand, with palm plantations holding back from awarding tenders, especially in Malaysia. Palm oil prices remain subdued amid high stocks and slow export demand. Following the plunge in crude oil prices, Malaysian palm oil futures slumped to their lowest level in three years. This could lower potash affordability levels and there is a downside risk that sales will be impacted.
