Offers from suppliers of granular urea for October were raised in several stages as news of further sales of Middle East product filtered through the TFI Conference in San Francisco. Offers were initially up by $5-10/t on deals at the very end of last week at $335/t CFR, but have since moved up to the mid-$360s/t CFR. Reports of a trade at $350/t CFR are termed accurate by the parties to the transaction, but sales were also confirmed at $338/t CFR. Further price increases in Brazil are expected when offers in the October 5 MMTC tender in India emerge, as several mainstream traders appear fully convinced that India will have no option but to pay above $355/t CFR to attract tonnage now that Iranian urea is excluded from the tender.
