Although my heart and soul have been in home improvements for most of the past 30 years or so, in the past five years we at Pioneer, like a number of others, have forged our way into the commercial manufacturing and installation sector. Largely using aluminium, we have a growing number of City of London installs and a range of other clients - including some very large NHS hospitals and estates. And fortunately none of them involve Carillion. Whatever God shapes my destiny he (or she) steered me away from the growing scandal that is, as I write, taking down a number of otherwise well-run firms.
