Qatar Petroleum has sealed a deal to acquire a 35% stake in Area 1 offshore Mexico from Eni, with the Italian player remaining operator. Area 1 is located in the shallow waters of the Campeche Bay and was awarded to Eni with a 100% stake in September 2015. A Production Sharing Contract was signed in December 2015. It is estimated to hold 2.1 Bn boe in place (90% oil) in the Amoca, Miztón and Tecoalli fields.
