Two ice-class tankers loaded with LNG have completed the first easterly voyages across the Northern Sea Route without an icebreaker escort, Russia’s Novatek announced on Friday. The Arc7 tanker Vladimir Rusanov, loaded with supercooled gas from Yamal LNG, arrived at the Bering Strait, while Eduard Toll, also an Arc7 filled with Yamal product, entered the Chukchi Sea just north of the strait, the privately owned gas company said. Both are headed for China’s Jiangsu Rudong port.
