Libya’s National Oil Corp. (NOC) says an illegal shipment of jet fuel from the UAE has docked in the eastern port of Benghazi (IOD Mar.16’20). The state firm said the fuel shipment was in breach of the UN arms embargo and that it has informed Tripoli and the UN. NOC said the cargo contravened international recognition of NOC’s independence as Libya’s sole supplier of crude oil and refined products and was an infraction of the new 14-day vessel quarantine protocol the state firm has put in place since the coronavirus outbreak.
