A US Appeals Court on Friday dismissed a case against Royal Dutch Shell that could have held the company liable over accusa- ions it assisted Nigerian authorities in vio- ently suppressing protests against oil explo- ration in the 1990s. Judges in the US Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit in New York ruled that until the Supreme Court deemed otherwise, corpora- ions could not be held liable in US courts for violations of international human rights law.
