Extension to take centre stage in Vienna

Opec and a number of non-Opec producers will meet in Vienna later this month to discuss their production cut agreement. The Opec/non-Opec deal to cut output by 1.7mn b/d - in place since January - is widely expected to be extended, but it is unclear for how long and whether the parties to the agreement will opt to prolong it on 30 November in Vienna or closer to its expiry in March next year. “I have not heard anyone talking about not considering an extension,” UAE oil minister Suhail al-Mazrouei says. “The timing and period of an extension is subject to discussion,” he says.
