Increasing amounts of crude are arriving in China after refiners stepped up purchases to offset the expected loss of Iranian supply. Chinese apparent oil demand — crude production plus net oil imports — rose to an estimated 13.97mn b/d in October. Net crude imports rose to 9.6mn b/d, an increase of 620,000 b/d on September, preliminary customs data show, while exports of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel fell.
