Gasoline markets adjust for seasonal shift

1. US Gulf coast gasoline prices rose as markets began the seasonal transition to winter specifications. Demand for gasoline and diesel exports rose amid an unplanned refinery shutdown in Brazil. 2. Tight supplies of summer-specification Rbob in New York Harbor lifted prices and opened the arbitrage to move supplies to the region from the Gulf coast for most of the week (see graph). A slowdown in imports and an unplanned refinery shutdown added to the regional shortage. Demand for high-octane blendstocks in New York Harbor fell ahead of the transition to winter grades.
