Indonesia's PLN secures $1.6bn for expansion

Indonesian state-owned utility PLN has arranged a $1.6bn loan facility with 20 international banks to accelerate the country’s ambitious electricity development programme known as RUPTL. The $1.6bn loan will be utilised by the company in two halves. A $1.3bn tranche will have a repayment period of five years, and the remaining amount will be utilised as a revolving-loan facility with a three-year payback. The funds will support the country’s project to add 35GW of power generation capacity, the Indonesian energy ministry said.
