Relatively mild weather forecast for the Japanese winter months of December-February could dampen power demand for heating purposes, reducing demand for thermal fuels such as LNG and coal. The meteorology agency yesterday projected normal or higher than normal temperatures throughout Japan for the three-month period between December this year and February next year, with a low probability of the El Nino or La Nina phenomenon predicted to cause irregular weather conditions. But the agency said a temporary cold spell could still bring heavy snowfalls sometime during late December to early January.
