Chinese wire rod exporters keep gradually cutting prices as regional buyers are pressing for discounts, citing cheaper import iron ore. Moreover, rebar futures are declining and the national currency is moving up against the US dollar. Regional traders have managed to achieve discounts of some $5/t from Chinese mills over the week. Deal prices for wire rod to Southeast Asia have reached $475/t FOB ($490- 495/t CFR), in line with week-ago bids.
