Although data on the epidemiology of food allergies are scant, studies suggest that peanut allergies have tripled in the last 15 years, with 3 million Americans now claiming to be allergic to peanuts or tree nuts. Allergies to cow's milk, egg, wheat, and soy have also spiked.
