Japan’s steel industry consumed a total of 771,000 tons of ferrous scrap to feed basic oxygen converters inJanuary 2016, up 14,000 tons or 1.8% from a month ago, indicating an increase for four consecutive months, when thetotal consumption stood at a high level for the first time in 12 months since January 2015, according to a survey by theJapan Ferrous Raw Materials Association.
