Restructuring leads to - 'great chances for success'

Since 1990, the restructuring of the cotton sector in Poland has been conducted. At present, 100 percent of cotton trade is private; a great many new trade companies were established and some of them are agents for big international companies. The restructuring of the cotton processing industry appears to be a much more complex task. Mills have been restructured into jointstock companies where the only shareholder is the Treasury. Most of them are encompassed by the National Investment Funds which are quoted on the Warsaw Exchange. Cotton in Poland is processed in 30 mills, 15 of which consume 86 percent of all cotton being used in Poland. The volume of consumption in these mills is from 1.5 to 12 thousand tons annually. In the remaining 15 firms,the yearly usage is from 200 to 1000 tons.
