DRAFT good practice guidance on patient group directions (PGDs) has been issued for consultation by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. The guidance largely reflects how PGDs currently operate. It clarifies the legislation in relation to PGDs, as well as the need for developing, authorising, using and updating them. A NICE spokesman told The Journal: "Although there is lime in [it] that is different from how things operate now, the independent group who developed the draft guidance was aware of current variation in practice and this is captured within the draft."
