Implications of Scottish independence

John Cromarty's article "What independence means for Scottish pharmacy" (PJ, 8 March 2014, p264) is of wider interest because it stimulates questions about future policy should the electorate vote that way. Whereas responsibility for NHS practice rests with the devolved administration, accountability for the profession of pharmacy is that of the UK Government and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Post independence, several policy questions would emerge that do not appear to have been addressed.
