Delivering learning material virtually in the event of adverse weather

SNOW shut schools and hit travel in January but at Keele University we continued with a study day for our MSc students despite the students living all over the UK. Keele University runs a professional MSc course for pharmacists. The course is grounded in the individual's practice and enables students to focus on an area of interest to them to develop a comprehensive understanding and critical awareness of this at an advanced level. The first module, "Advanced practice development" (APD), is an open-learning module. Students identify three or four competencies from the Advanced and Consultant Level Framework1 that are relevant to their area of practice and develop these competencies to the "excellence" level. The module is assessed through a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates achievement of the competencies at the appropriate level. Students are supported in their competency development by a Keele tutor.
