PHOTOSENSITISING antihypertensive drugs, such as nifedipine and hydrochlorothiazide, are associated with an increased risk of lip cancer, a study reveals (Archives of Internal Medicine, online 6 August 2012). The study included non-Hispanic white patients who were on varying doses and types of antihypertensive drugs. Atenolol was the only non-photosensitising drug studied.
