Steed In a tribute to the late Marilyn Anne Steed (PJ, 30 June 2012, p796), ROGER WALKER (chief pharmaceutical officer, Welsh Government) and ALOYSIUS OFFIA write: It is with regret that we report that Marilyn Anne Steed passed away after a brief illness. Her funeral was held on 8 June 2012.Marilyn started her career as a pharmacist in 1974 working for Tomlinson's Chemist in Corby, Northamptonshire. In 1975 she moved to Wales to work for Howard & Palmer and then Lloyds as an area manager. Shealso spent some time working for Merck Sharpe & Dohme Ltd as a research scientist.After leaving MSD she again worked in South Wales but this time as a locum pharmacist, primarily for Tesco. During this period she was also involved in training student nurses in Swansea and Gorseinon Colleges and worked in Morriston Hospital, Swansea.She bought her first pharmacy, Alexandra Road Pharmacy, in Gorseinon, Swansea, in 1999 and Port Tennant Pharmacy a year later. A third pharmacy was purchased in 2005 (Treboeth) after which she sold the first two.
