Local authorities must be made aware of pharmacy's value to public health

LOCAL authorities need to be given a clear understanding of how pharmacy operates if the profession is to secure a firm place in the new public health agenda, Government and pharmacy leaders agreed this week. At an expert roundtable held in London, Pharmacy Voice convened local councillors and commissioning leads along with representatives from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and various community pharmacies to discuss how to ensure pharmacy's potential to deliver public health benefits is fully realised.
