NHS chief pharmacists should be responsible for managing all homecare medicine services within their trusts and be accountable for these services to trust chief executive officers, according to a review of homecare medicines published by the Department of Health last week. Helen Howe, chief pharmacist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and member of the review's working group, told The Journal that current arrangements vary widely between trusts. "Chief pharmacists will welcome the report because it clearly places the responsibility for the governance of homecare medicines management arrangements with them," she said.
