Medicines shortages are not improving and it is time to find practical solutions

EARLIER this month the All-Party Pharmacy Group, which I chair, announced that it would be holding a full-scale inquiry into the issue of NHS prescription medicines shortages (PJ, 26 November/3 December, p626).The inquiry will recommend solutions to the problem to Government, reached through a process of taking written evidence, holding a number of evidence sessions in the New Year, with key parties appearing before us as witnesses, and ultimately publishing a report of our findings. We hope to publish our report before Easter 2012.
