Green light from SMC for retigabine

RETIGABINE (Trobalt) was the only medicine endorsed for use within NHS Scotland this month as part of the Scottish Medicines Consortium's latest round of appraisals. The drug is accepted for its licensed indication - adjunctive treatment for partial onset seizures with or without secondary generalisation in adults with epilepsy - but only for patients with highly refractory epilepsy who have been heavily pre-treated and remain uncontrolled with existing antiepileptic drugs.
