Guild criticises proposed regulatory standards

Proposed new regulatory standards for the profession (PJ, 5 December 2009, p613) have been condemned by the Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists, which describes them as "repetitive, overly complex and difficult to interpret".The standards drafted for the General Pharmaceutical Council by the Department of Health are also "too prescriptive" and there are fears that they may stifle professional development and will do little to enhance public safety, the guild says.
