More than 400 medicines are being stockpiled to keep the supply chain running if the influenza pandemic takes off again this autumn and winter.The Department of Health has invited tenders from drug manufacturers to produce the essential medicines that the NHS, has said it will need to prevent death or admission to hospital. The list, which also details the volume of medicines required, includes aspirin, morphine, diazepam, insulin and antibiotics.
