I wish to voice my concern over the way repeat prescription services are organised by at least one of the large multiple pharmacy chains. On discovering that a relative had in excess of two months of regular medicines at home I requested the pharmacy not to order a repeat prescription the following month and to confirm the need for future supplies before requesting prescriptions from the surgery. I was told that it was unable to manage an individual's prescription in that way. I enquired what the solution to this problem would be. The response was that it would telephone the person when the prescription was dispensed and that he or she should then decline to collect the prescription.
