Welsh group approves four drugs and recommends brand name use

HIV-1 infected, antiretroviral treatment-experienced adults in Wales can now add etravirine (Intelence) to their treatment regimen, following ministerial ratification of the latest recommendations of the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group.Etravirine treatment is recommended in combination with a boosted protease inhibitor and other antiretroviral medicinal products, and should be initiated by a specialist in accordance with British HIV Association guidelines. It is not recommended for first-line use or for shared care, the AWMSG advises.
