SMC accepts one of four medicines

Daptomycin (Cubicin)has been reviewed by the Scottish Medicines Consortium and accepted for restricted use within NHS Scotland for the treatment of complicated skin and soft tissue infections in adults.The SMC recommends that daptomycin use be restricted to patients with known or suspected methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection on the advice of local microbiologists or specialists in infectious disease.
