Men taking the erectile dysfunction medicines sildenafil(Viagra)or tadalafil(Cialis)are at higher risk of non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy if they have a history of myocardial infarction,according to a retrospective case-control study published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology(2006;90:154).
