I congratulate Kit Yee Chan and colleagues on their systematic review and analysis of the prevalence and incidence of dementia in China between 1990 and 2010. They estimated the number of people with dementia to be 3-68 million (95% Cl 2-22-5-14) in 1990, compared with 9-19 million (5-92-12-48) in 2010. Therefore, the prevalence of dementia and the number of people with the disease in China are significantly higher than those estimated in Alzheimer's Disease International's World Alzheimer Report 2009, which was incorporated into WHO's 2012 dementia report.
