摘要

Many cultures throughout history have relocated their populations from time to time. Whether for economic, political, religious reasons, or a combination thereof, migratory movement can be detailed in those peoples' collective oral and written histories. In the book Diaspora in the Countryside: Two Mennonite Communities and Mid-Twentieth Century Rural Disjuncture by historian Royden Loewen, the movement of Mennonites across North America and even into South America is detailed. Loewen effectively uses historical accounts such as personal diaries, newspapers from the communities affected, and the oral accounts of those living in the various communities discussed in the book.
