Only a few years ago it seemed quite clear that there was no alternative to a biobased economy. Then came shale gas and with it disillusionment. How are cheap resources impacting the young bio-economy? Is it conceivable that new opportunities will open up in market segments that do not cash in on shale gas? Or will the world wake up too late from its shale-gas euphoria and miss the development of biobased processes which, in the long term, will be needed after all? And how long will the boom last? Experts from resources management, engineering and the biotechnology sector will discuss these questions.
