A separation of bis(alpha-hydroxyalkyl) phosphinic acid diastereoisomers is described.A novel method for the determination stereochemistry of bis(alpha-hydroxyalkyl) phosphinic acid diastereoisomers has been developed.The stereochemistry of one diastereo-isomer was confirmed after converting to the corresponding methyl ester using trimethyl orthoformate.
