Rail prices slip as barged coal prices gain

Barged coal prices in both Northern Appalachia and the IllinoisBasin ticked up last week while their railed counterparts slippedslightly.With the long Christmas holiday coming up, traders and coalsellers alike said new business and even negotiations about newbusiness slowed to a crawl. With 2016 less than a week away fromgoing in the books, one trader said the outlook beyond the firstquarter of ’17 is still a bit hazy.
