There are two potential major new tin mines located very close to Renison in north-west Tasmania. Nearest is Stellar Resources' Heemskirk project, 18 kilometres away, which consists of three deposits (Queen Hill, Severn and Montana). A scoping study produced last year envisaged 600,000 tpy ore treatment to produce 3,900 tpy of tin-in-concentrate at an operating cash cost of US$12,780/tonne.
