Xstrata agrees to buy Talisman’s Sukunka coking coal deposit

Global miner Xstrata’s coal unit said Thursday it has agreed to buy the Sukunka hard coking coal in western Canada from Talisman Energy Inc for $500 million. Sukunka, located in the Peace River coalfield in British Columbia, has measured and indicated resources of 236 million mt and adjoins the First Coal Corporation and Lossan tenements that Xstrata bought last year.
