US West Coast polyethylene terephthalate went down $11/ mt on the week to an assessment Wednesday at $1,400-$1,422/mt (63.5-64.5 cents/lb) DDP US West Coast tracking lower Asian PET prices. Demand remained strong with the summer bottling season underway, sources said, adding that demand will likely remain healthy through the summer. In the domestic market, May prices were expected to rise due to higher feedstocks. MEGlobal will increase its North American benchmark price for June monoethylene glycol to 52 cents/lb, up 4 cents from May, market sources said. Other increases of 3-5 cents/lb for June have also been heard, sources said. MEGlobal will increase the June Asia contract price for MEG to $1,100/mt CFR Asian main ports, a rise of $100 from May, according to a company notice to buyers obtained by Platts.
